  Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (QCF)

 This is the industry standard vocational qualification and non-apprenticeship pathway for those of you who are working within the electrical installation industry and looking to apply for an ECS Gold Card and work as a fully qualified electrican within the domestic, commercial and industrial sectors. 

 

This qualification requires the completion of a 3 day end point assessment (commonly known as the AM2) at an independant assessment centre is a requirement for recognition as a competent domestic, commercial and industrial electrician

  

 

Course Duration

• This is both a knowledge and work based qualification, the duration dependant on a candidates experience and access to the range of evidence required from naturally ocurring on-site activities

• Completion of the work based aspects are typically achieved between a period of 6 to 18 months

          

Who is this qualification for?

• Candidates who are currently working within the electrical contracting industry without any formal qualifications

• For those who are currently working in the electrical installation industry and have previously achieved a recognised Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation or equivilent qualifications within the last 5 years

          

Please note

• There may be a requirement to complete a  'knowledge bridging unit' (additional cost will apply) for candidates who completed the Level 3 Dipolma in Electrical Installation or equivelent qualification at an alternative training provider. This does not apply if the EAL Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installaltion was completed at Ipswich Skills Centre

• It provides the underpinning knowledge and work based performance units to assess a candidates competence to perform a range of installation activities in real working environments

 

What does it cover?

Underpinning knowledge units as follows:

 

• Health and safety legislation, practices and procedures

• Environmental legislation, working practices and principles

• Practices and procedures for overseeing and organising the work environment

• Practices and procedures for the preparation and installation of wiring systems and equipment

• Principles of planning and selection for the installation of equipment

• Principles, practices and legislation for the termination and connection of conductors, cables and cords  

• Principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning and certification

• Principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults

• Electrical principles associated with design, building, installation and maintenance

 

Worked based performance units as follows: (Assessment of evidence naturally ocurring from on-site activities)

• Applying health and safety legislation and working practices  

• Applying environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems 

• Overseeing and organising the work environment (electrical installation) 

• Planning, preparing and installing wiring systems and associated equipment

• Terminating and connecting conductors and cables in electrical systems  

• Inspecting, testing, commissioning and certifying electrotechnical systems and equipment

• Diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrical systems and equipment

• Electrotechnical Occupational Competence (AM2)

 

Please note

The above knowlege units will be satisfied as recognised prior learning from the peviously achieved Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation or equivilent qualifications where applicable.

 

The above knowledge units will be fully satisfied where a candidate has completed the EAL Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation at Ipswich Skills Centre

 

How is the qualification assessed?

• A mix of on-screen multiple choice examinations and in-centre controlled assignments

• Performance competence is assessed using evidence generated from on-site working environments

• Writing materials, scientific calculator and suitable safety footwear for workshop sessions)

• Naturally ocurring evidence from electrical installation activities performed in real working environments

 

How much does this course cost?

• Full course fee of £8,339* (interest free 'pay as you train' installment payment option available) 

 

• For candidates who have previously achieved the required underpinning knowledge we are currently offering the performance units from £2,295** (Full payment required when booking)
